Firefox sessions

Good day!

I have some problem with Firefox.
I usually open 5-6 Firefox apps with many tabs. Sometimes my computer suddenly turns off due to different problems.
When Firefox tries to restore sessions it opens apps and tabs which were not at the moment of sudden closing, but may be month ago.
It happens seldom but very unpleasant because I need to search in history and try to understand what I have read and what pages not.

Does any know how to save session with Firefox command? or may be to write script which will backup some (unknown to me) file settings and that I could restore it back later?

i don't know about any command to save session although but whenever a firefox window gets closed by mistake, ctl+shift+t always works to restore tab from that recently closed window

Heat issues? That's typically the reason why a system would shut itself off instantly.

That's odd. But perhaps it only has the information cached in memory, and with the immediate power off it never had a chance to save that cache to disk?

I'd try to figure out why it suddenly switches off, that appears to be your root-cause.

Is the extension "session buddy" available for Firefox? That's what I use in one of my profiles. You can recall old sessions at will.

Thanks for advice. I have seldom heat problems (overheating), also electricity + my small child (who likes to press different glowing buttons). Such problems happen seldom, but happen.

I will try to find out which files are responsible for the session (opened applications and tabs) and will post here.

Check your BIOS settings, by default the power button is often set to "Immediate", set this to "3 seconds" or "delayed". A short press of the power button will then do a "soft" power off, in other words a clean shutdown. It will power off immediately if you hold the power button for a few seconds. It would still be annoying but at least the system will shutdown and power off cleanly.

I vaguely recall an about:config setting that controlled how often Firefox saved cache to the disk; I'm thinking lowering it from default may save the state to disk sooner, but it doesn't seem like loading months-old tabs would be possible even with the default. I'm not sure the setting name at all, but iirc it came from a Arch Linux Wiki Firefox page.

about:support has a "Verify Integrity" button around the bottom of the page; I'd press that, then do a "Clear startup cache..." (top-right). Not sure if it'll fix anything specific though.

If you use Firefox Sync or don't mind a clean-start, I'd close FF, delete ~/.mozilla and re-configure FF from scratch. I'm thinking if there's something preventing the tab state from saving frequently (like an old setting or files that can't be replaced), it'll likely be removed and work fine from a fresh re-config.

I'd check thermals, or if it's a desktop open the side panel and point a table/floor fan into it. If the computer doesn't turn off or it happens less-frequently, the problem could be dust or heatsinks needing re-pasted.

If you're confident about thermals, I'd try a CPU stress (prime95) test for a few mins, then a GPU stress test (GpuTest/Fur ring). But I'd have a backup computer in-case that goes worst-case :p
