Solved Error: no such partition. [the BIOS went mad]

I need to bring up a new backup disc, but the sata ports on my fast machine are fully populated. So I pulled a disc to make room. Unfortunately I pulled the system disc by mistake, and got the above message. So I put the disc back, same controller position.

But I still get that message. Has anyone else seen this problem? I hope it doesn't mean that the drive failed, because it's relatively new and an "enterprise" drive.

(I know nothing about grub, so that's going to be a problem all by itself)

I would guess there is an old grub on another disk that isn't configured.

Boot sequence changed in the BIOS/UEFI when you pulled the disk and booted the system.
The next available disk become the first one in the boot sequence then (happens automatically).
You original boot disk is now on some other position in the boot sequence.

Solution: Enter the BIOS/UEFI and set your original boot disk to be the first in the boot sequence again.
