Encountering this problem for a few years: while compiling a selection of ports automated with a script, a bunch of the distfile fetch url's are unresponsive, causing the procedures to delay with minutes an hours in total. Not sure what causes this. It may be a local DNS-related bias.
Is there any consistent way to avoid this, like setting a max connection timeout length in seconds before trying the next?
