I came to ask about this. Please tell me straight up: Are you guys partnering with any of these security/AI companies that are scanning user submissions before allowing them to be posted? By that I mean: automated LLM powered moderation.
It certainly doesn't look that way to me. Besides, I did see some mod posts that hinted that there's still humans on the moderation team, and they enforce Code of Conduct. And yeah, they have other things on their plate, too. Basically, lots of telltale signs that you just won't see with automated LLM powered moderation.
I only get this delay when posting new threads/posts. If I edit an existing post the reply is posted instantly as it should be. But if I wait say 30 minutes then go back and add say 3 paragraphs to a post I made the delay comes back. This can only lead me to one conclusion.
Only one???
I should tell you straight out that I'm very familiar with how Xenforo works. Along with what came before it (vBulletin) and what came before that (UBB). So I know what I'm seeing isn't related to any type of bug in the Xenforo software itself. I haven't had the time to go poking through the javascript I allowed to run in my browser from the freebsd.org domain yet. But if I go poking through it and find what I'm expecting to find I won't be happy and I'll stop posting here.
Yeah, right. Forum software and web browsers are not the only plausible places to look - you kind of have to realize that there can be issues with the hosting metal on the other end, there can be config issues for any number of components along the way, and there may be a moron or two who did not set things up right (like wrong firewall or routing settings), or even intentional global geopolitics like the Great Chinese Firewall. You gotta look through the entire TCP/IP stack, end to end, to know what to look for.
I just don't buy this high-and-mighty attitude, and anyone on the Internet is capable of responding in kind, in an attempt to play a game of one-upmanship. I don't buy the self-promoting
commentary claims of any kind of real competence, either.
