jails Create jail using bsdinstall has checksum for base.txz does not match error

Hi,

I'm using bsdinstall to create jail but hit below error. Could you please advise how to go about this?

% freebsd-version
13.1-RELEASE-p3

% uname -a
FreeBSD MyServer 13.1-RELEASE-p3 FreeBSD 13.1-RELEASE-p3 GENERIC amd64

bsdinstall jail /path/to/my/jail/folder

Instead of using bsdinstall(8) install manually.

Download base.txz and MANIFEST, check sha256(1), and extract file into jail directory: tar xfC base.txz /path/to/my/jail/folder

Afterwards freebsd-update(8) jail to patch level -p3.

Make sure your files in /usr/freebsd-dist are still correct.

Bad news, bud. Replace /usr/freebsd-dist.

Thanks will check. Seems that this happens after I upgrade from 13.0 to 13.1. Does it ring any bell that I missed certain steps? (I followed the hand book)

Nope. The upgrade/update process won't touch those files. They're not part of the base OS.

I just delete it and run bsdinstall again. It fetches latest correct files and everything works. Thanks much.

Whatever you do, wherever you are, don't run /bin/rm -rf /*
