Solved Create /home partition after installing FreeBSD 10.1

Hi,

I have a 400 GB / (freebsd-ufs) partition and I wonder if it's possible to resize this / partition and create and activate a /home partition beside.

I'm new with FreeBSD so try to give me the solution step by step.

Thanks for help.
 
The partition can be shrunk, but the filesystem inside it will be damaged by doing that. The normal procedure is to the use dump(8) to back up the filesystem, resize the partition with gpart(8), then restore(8).

On FreeBSD, /home is usually a soft link to /usr/home.
