Another crash after 4 days of uptime, 48 minutes past the hour. This time I had set all compression to lzjb, if at all. Looks like gzip compression is not a deal breaker. There is nothing in that particular time that is indicative of something in my crontab causing the problem - every 10 minutes I schedule zfs-snapshot-mgmt, and 15 minutes past the hour I transfer the contents of my SSD based zfs root mirror to my HDD based storage pool. Nothing IO intensive was being done either during that time.
I'm starting to suspect that it is hardware related, or maybe driver related.
I had a look at /var/log/messages
It is filled with messages from wpa_supplicant and the kernel, all related to the wireless link going down every 5-10 minutes and then going back up. I might try and connect it up in wired (or disconnect the wireless) to see if that fixes it. Might also help to upgrade to STABLE.
