I notice some OSes can't be clone using VirtualBox's clone feature. When VirtualBox clones the virtual hard disk I think it also changes the disk serial number or UUID or sth like that I don't know much. It resulted in the VM can't boot anymore due to missing root file system, I will be dropped to a kernel panic promt. My FreeBSD VM is large so I want to ask before cloning hundred of GBs just to have an unbootable VM. Thanks.

p/s: If I use UFS is the thing any different? Please let me know.

OK. I did a test myself. I could clone the FreeBSD VM (ZFS root) using VirtualBox and it's just boot up normally. Unlike DFBSD (UFS root), which failed to boot. I didn't test with UFS root, though.

Edit: FreeBSD VM with UFS root could be cloned just fine, too. It seemed DFBSD now too different from FreeBSD.
