Solved Change single-user read only

I made a mistake in the rc.conf file and rebooted into single user mode and locked out of multi user mode. It looks like I can open a text editor and delete the line that was a mistake but it's read only. How do I change this to write permission?

Ufs:
mount -u /
mount -a -t ufs

Zfs:
mount -u /
zfs mount -a

mount -u /
zfs mount -a

That's not going to work for ZFS.

zfs set readonly=off zroot/ROOT/default

Then you weren't booting from a ZFS filesystem.
