Can't you guys exempt some people (and _ban_ them when things fail?)??

Hi gang,

Trust me: I get it, I really, really do, but at the same time I am getting frustrated each and every time I visit this forum (NO (!!) offense).

I see what you do, being a sysadmin myself I also see why (!!) you do so (even more importantly). But it doesn't change the facts: I respond to something, then something casual like a status update and: wham, blocked. I can't do that.

This is so utterly frustrating and demotivating that I usually just give up, take breaks, but .. now can't help but ask: can't you guys give some of us an all or nothing? I am MORE than happy to bet my reputation on all this: being trusted with the privilege to avoid (!) the spam filter, at the expense of getting banned no questions asked, should things fail on my end.

No, this isn't arrogance: this is annoyance with a sense of reality. Most "hacks" aren't hacks: they're excuses. Because in most of the cases it was an arroant someone who allowed the hack to happen, then didn't want to live up to reality nor come clean with their actions. I've seen this crap one too many times. Hacks.. puhlease: buzzwords. To avoid consequences.

But can't you guys give some dedicated, serious, peopel a pass?

Being a good moderator means that you give good people more leeway, at least that is what I try to do. You may also give some notorious people more rope, sometimes.

What could happen is that you use some of the "bad words" which are a filter for spam entries. These keep getting blocked without any mod pushing any button, and it helps keeping this place clean. That list is global and affects anyone. Could that be it?

It's always a fine line, isn't it? I'd posit that all the good moderators may handle the same situation differently, and if it's serious enough, the "moderator chat" lights up with a good discussion and a majority decision (probably not 100% consensus, but something everyone is okay with).
It's also usually trivial for a post to get hidden while a situation is discussed to a resolution.

Now if someone gets banned or temporarily blocked (not allowed to log in) a good moderator probably also emails/informs the person why and for how long.

But there is a lot of onus on the users to behave themselves. Do things slip out on occasion? Sure, maybe more based on the day of the week and time of day.

Above are just my opinions
