Solved Cannot mount HDD after reinstalling FreeBSD

Hi,

I have just removed FreeBSD 10.1 and installed the new FreeBSD 11. Then, I cannot mount the hard drive which I had partitioned on FreeBSD 10.1. I tried fsck, and it said "Could not determine filesystem type". Can anyone help me solve this issue?

Add -t ufs to the fsck(8) command line.

What's the output of gpart show ada1?

Then the partitions are ada1p1 and ada1p2. You need to run fsck(8) on them, not the disk.

Yes, after I fsck the 2 partitions, I am able to mount them now.
