Blank windows after resize KDE5

I am a novice user of Freebsd and am having a problem that I cannot solve by reading
through the forums or on the internet.
It seems at random time after being logged on, I will resize a window and the contents of
the window goes black. After that, anytime I click in any other window that I have open, it
goes black as well. The only way I can recover is to reboot.
This started after I ran

pkg update
pkg upgrade

I have searched through the logs but can't find anything useful.

Info about my system:

Operating System: FreeBSD 11.2
KDE Plasma Version: 5.16.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.59.0
Qt Version: 5.12.2
Kernel Version: 11.2-RELEASE-p11
OS Type: 64-bit
Processors: 8 ACPI CPU
Memory: 15.9 GiB of RAM

Can someone point me in the right direction? I don't know how to resolve this.
Thanks

What graphics does the machine have? And what is being detected by Xorg?

I suspect you're running on scfb(4).

Video card is ATI Radeon and I see in the Xorg log
Code:
LoadModule: "radeon"
Loading /usr/local/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/radeon_drv.so
Dual monitors if that makes any difference.

I have switched to using FVWM as window manager and do not experience this problem any more.
I prefer to use KDM - can anyone shed some light on this??
I don't know how to fix

I have the same problem with KDE5 on FreeBSD 11.3 (AMD CPU and Nvidia card). If I resize any window, it becomes black and even the start menu cannot be shown any more. I installed KDE from the binary packages. Please help

timewind, it sounds like it might be a bug with KDE's compositor. Would disabling it work around the problem?

If anyone is interested, I disabled compositor on startup and no longer experience this problem.
I have also installed Debian 10 in dual boot and KDE Plasma 5 and do NOT have this problem with the compositor enabled.
Thank you stratact for suggestion
