BitPerfect + Firefox YouTube: Right Channel OK, Left Channel Noise

When I configure BitPerfect for my headphones and play a YouTube video in Firefox, I get normal sound in the right ear, but in the left ear I only hear a loud "shsh-ing" noise. Audacious plays music fine, so the issue seems to be specific to Firefox/YouTube. Has anyone else experienced this or knows what might be causing it?
