I have been running two bhyve VMs for a few months, and I have a couple of simple questions.
The entries in my /etc/rc.conf file are:
Also, the man page for vm states the following about
I do not invoke
And secondly, I would rather invoke the VMs manually some time after boot, and not have an automatic start for the VMs. I thought the null vm_list in the /etc/rc.conf would produce that behavior, but apparently it does not. When I reboot the host, one of the two VMs starts.
I have read the man page for
I would like to have manual control over the start of the bhyve VMs. Any ideas? What am I missing?

Code:
vm_enable="YES"
vm_dir="/mnt/vm"
vm_list=""
vm_delay="0"
Also, the man page for vm states the following about
vm init:
Code:
This subcommand needs to be run on each boot, which is normally handled by the rc.d script.
I do not invoke
vm init at each boot, yet the VMs run fine. Am I missing something there?And secondly, I would rather invoke the VMs manually some time after boot, and not have an automatic start for the VMs. I thought the null vm_list in the /etc/rc.conf would produce that behavior, but apparently it does not. I have read the man page for
vm several times, but don't see anything explicit that helps. There is mention in the man page about the vm startall command where it says "virtual machines configured for auto-start", but no where do I see such configuration.I would like to have manual control over the start of the bhyve VMs. Any ideas?
