Hi!
Is there any updated sane blog or news feed about/for FreeBSD?
There is planet.freebsd.org, but there posts are noninformative as a News section on FreeBSD site. There is some posts in FreeBSDFoundation site, but it doesn't consist any certain info except "letters of praise".
I found OpenBSD's undeadly.org and great Ted Unangst's blog, I found blog.netbsd.org and even DragonFly Digest where people can read about some work undertaken in this projects.
But I can't find something for FreeBSD.
Thank you
Well, there is a FreeBSD journal just like OpenBSD journal but guess what? It is not free and most importantly IIRC you need a proprietary OS to download articles from it. I guess it is commensurate with the wide spread use of OS X among FreeBSD developers.
BSD magazine is free and very FreeBSD bias.
Generations of FreeBSD users grow up reading Dan Langille's FreeBSD diary
http://www.freebsddiary.org/
Dan has new diary but frequency of posts leaves much to be desired
https://dan.langille.org/
He is lurking here so he might want to tell you if he has time to post more frequently.
Dru Lavigne wrote a tons of stuff and had a blog called "A year in the life of BSD guru" (should be corrected to "A year in the life of FreeBSD guru")
http://it.toolbox.com/blogs/bsd-guru/
However, ever since she started working full time for IXSystems her community involvement is significantly downsized (she needs to make a living and I guess IXSystems doesn't pay people to write free blogs).
Mike Lucas has an excellent blog
https://blather.michaelwlucas.com/
which has lot of FreeBSD specific stuff but he is a full time writer and has to make living.
Will Backman had a very famous BSD (with lot of FreeBSD staff) podcast called bsdtalk
http://bsdtalk.blogspot.com/
It looks dead now. I am not sure what happen to Bill but my guess is that he has to feed his kids and BSD podcast doesn't make any money.
Beside OpenBSD staff you mentioned there is lot more in that community. For example Peter of "The book of PF fame" has a blog
http://bsdly.blogspot.com/
Joel Knight has a very nice OpenBSD network oriented blog
https://www.packetmischief.ca/
I know of at least 3-4 other really good
http://www.kernel-panic.it/
https://www.tumfatig.net/
http://bluepilltech.blogspot.co.at/
but I am too tired tonight to look for you.
Finally every once and a while you can read something intelligent on places like Reddit. For example surprisingly informative post by Jim Thomson aka. gonzopancho of pfSense fame known for his rants and bad attitude.
