Long time ago i was dissatisfied with the existing tools to automatically create and remove snapshots.
Suddenly i got the solution, an administrative directory on each dataset containing files
to remove the exact snapshot and a sample script selecting which "removals" to execute.
See ftp.manet.nu /pub/zsnap.tar or
at n.manet.nu: zsnap.tar
It contains a script to install ( bin/zsetup ) a script to be run by cron once a day ( bin/zsnapper)
and a listing scripy ( bin/zlist)
The beauty is that everything regarding snapshots are located at the dataset itself , the zfs volume
could be moved to another system with no loss of information about the snapshots.
It's simple, that is in my opinion a feature !
