I have been seeking in the docs of ipfw(8) for some unrelated topic. The section about altq the documentation says
I guess mentioning pfctl(8) might be a copy&paste mistake. Since I am no expert I ask for advice. If you think it is a typo I can file a problem report. If not it is better not to do so 
. Therefore I feel free to ask.

You must run pfctl(8) to set up the queues before IPFW will be able to look them up by name, and if the ALTQ
disciplines are rearranged, the rules in containing the queue identifiers in the kernel will likely have gone
stale and need to be reloaded. Stale queue identifiers will probably result in misclassification.Kind regards, Christoph
