All countries are different, tell me a fact about your country.

They first claimed to be the gravediggers of the old society, stirring up a massive red wave that completely destroyed it—including its core civilization—and then claimed to be the heirs of tradition.

They first launched a rebellion, claiming that the revolutionaries had lost only their shackles and gained freedom, democracy, equality, and dignity. They are now one of the most severe countries in the world in restricting citizens' freedom of speech, association, publication, and belief.

They first made every effort to join international organizations, claiming to actively integrate into the international community. Now, having reaped huge benefits from the international order and thus become powerful, they flex their muscles and are being seen as a rule-breaker.

Yet, they have successfully won the support of the majority of their citizens.

Yeah ok but I'm not talking about the historiography of it. I mean like, if you're Dutch, say, what languiage (written or spoken) feels more familiar to you? German? English?
German, by a wide margin, both written and spoken. When I was a really young kid I had a classmate whose mother was German. She would sometimes put us in front of the TV for some peace and quiet and we would watch 'die Sendung mit der Maus', on a German channel. That was my first exposure to the German language and I could follow along just fine for the most part. At home I would watch the Sky Channel every weekend for the cartoons (Fun Factory), which was quite British indeed with no subtitles. I couldn't understand much of what they were saying at all.

Photo from travel in never colonized country in Africa (don't count few years of Italy).

Both England and China fit the bill, even if they don't wanna admit to inconvenient realities.
I'm braindead.
Don't know much about today's England, but I've read some books on British history, and I watch news from time to time. I guess we are talking about different England.

I'd have to get a LOT of facts straight and confirmed with credible, verifiable research before making further claims to explain myself and make my point.

In the end, joe sixpack is not so different from ivan ivanovich or anyone else. It's mostly the old farts at the top who give trouble, no matter how they came to be there. The christmas truce is a good example for this. Look it up.
