Other Adding new disk renames devices

Ah, too late, but it still didn't work. I have the appropriate labels, but no corresponding directories under /dev. Odd indeed but certainly not critical - I like the idea of labels in case I decide to play drive shuffle...

Drive roulette or drive lottery is how I have seen it described in my reading.
I had an array of da0-da7 and swapped in a new drive and it became da8.
Very common refrain going back many many years.

Really not a big deal - this is a desktop and I have 2 SSDs which will probably never move, but I wanted to learn how to do this in FreeBSD so thought I would try.

Now that I am engulfed in storage I found i necessary to do something.
I like the straight up approach of devices.hints because I have every drive cable with markings and each bay and each sled.
Looking for uniformity. So now I know that a cable marked da0 is going to be da0 in software.
Seriously I think diskid should be called an alias and partition labels called labels. Too many things considered labels.
