A good amount of money has been stolen from my bank account bypassing the double factor authentication.

As said, for payment in internet, I use an account in one of these new smartphone banks, neobanks, without any credit line, only with a small deposit. Now that there is in EU real time transfer, you can transfer to it just short before a bigger payment. My PayPal account takes from the debit card there and use PayPal as far as possible, but when necessary, the debit card without much concern.

Important is to see how much they charge for exchange when paying with the card. This depends on the bank, not Visa or Master Card. PayPal is always bad.

I had a wonderful debit card with ex German neobank 'nuri', but it is bankrupt, now with German n26, not very happy, to complicated technology for a bank with few EUROS. German c24 seems to be attractive (but collects info), perhaps I change to it. There are in other countries interesting offers. Perhaps you can open an account from Italy.

Glovo is a spanish food delivery app, isn't it? I think it's hard to return food already eaten. I mean you can send your own poop and insists it's the groceries purchased, just in a different form. But then i think it does make more sense to talk to the bank.
 
blackbird9 : I'd suggest letting this go, no point beating a dead horse (this may be a US expression, rather than British)... In US, CVV is usually required every time you use a new card. Sometimes an online mertchant keeps your card info on file so that you can do 1-click ordering, like on Amazon - until the card expires. After that, the customer needs to enter the CVV again. That is so common that phishing web sites take advantage of that very absent-mindedness to harvest CVVs off unsuspecting victims. Convenience is nice, but it's no reason to drop your guard and stop paying attention.

Your way of thinking seems implies that all or most of the responsibility for what happens falls on one person. Instead I believe that responsibility should always / often be shared among multiple persons. In my case, if the CVV number had been requested (such as some other security strategies that the bank could apply), I would still have my money now. This is a fact. I have my responsibilities,bank has its own,thief has his,and so on. There's no need to cough about this, as we say where I live. We could instead discuss about a rational distribution of them. And you know what the clerk suggested me to do when I went to talk to him ? Instead of admitting that the banking system could be more secure... he suggested I take out identity theft insurance. That's how they think they're protecting their customers. By making them pay for having a better security. First they make the systems vulnerable, then when someone happens to be the victim of theft, they offer them the insurance policy. Not before. And don't tell me that I should be the only one responsible for what happens to me, because what happens to me, it's ALSO a consequence of some other people's choices.

To be fair, I agree with that line of thinking somewhat. Thing is... you can't exactly control what others are doing. You can only make decisions for yourself. If you don't want a dog to bite, you stay away from that dog. Then the dog will bite someone else, but not you. If you don't stay away from that biting dog, you only have yourself to blame if the dog bit you. There's a reason the dog is chained up while you are free to go anywhere you want.

Or even touching a hot stove and getting burned by that... You gonna go look for whoever left the stove on, or realize that the decision to touch the hot stove was all yours?

Germans do tend to have that kind of humor... People who remember Soviet Union before it fell apart - they sometimes have a sense of humor that is flavored with bitter cynicism. Brits tend to have a very dry sense of humor. 'Pepe the Frog' style of humor is popular among Asians... I see it all as cultural differences, nothing to lay an egg over.
