14.1 installation from DVD fails - error 19

Zagzigger - the gpart display shows a freebsd partition of 1.3 GB, which is correct, at least on one of my USBs:

[jpb@jpbsd:~/ISO]$ gpart show da0
=> 1 121012223 da0 MBR (58G)
1 66584 1 efi (33M)
66585 2668176 2 freebsd [active] (1.3G)
2734761 118277463 - free - (56G)

Not sure why the USB is trying to act like a Bluetooth device. Maybe try another USB stick?

Also, have a look at this thread - it appears to be related:

Jim B.
Thanks for your note and your interest.
I found the whole experience very frustrating - and you are one of the few that took an interest.
Anyway, after 10+ years on FreeBSD, I downloaded GhostBSD (which uses the same pkg repositories as FreeBSD) followed the instructions and hey presto, I had a fully functioning MATE desktop in less than an hour. Not only that - it used the familiar FreeBSD boot menu.
What annoys me is that this bug has been around on FreeBSD since 2022 at least, and nobody seems to care that much.
When I calm down, I might leave my reflection on all this on a new thread.
It might be me, but I think there's been a change in culture at FreeBSD over the last few months - but I might have just been unlucky.
Thanks again.

Just back from a two-week trip, so I decided to return to the initial problem and find out why I could not boot an Acer Aspire 5 XC895 from a USB stick. I have given up trying to find the solution to booting FreeBSD from DVD.

The answer was in the BIOS. There is now a new option in the BIOS which seems to make no sense.

"Removable Device" does not allow USB

You must now insert the USB before powering up and entering the BIOS, then select the new option "Hard Disk Drive Priority" - yes, I do mean Hard Drive!
Because the USB stick is inserted there is now an option to select that as the initial load device - in my case the 3 options are 1 Manjaro, 2 Windoze and 3 the USB stick. Changing the sequence will now allow booting from the USB stick.

I will of course post this information on the relevant Acer forum.

Thanks for all suggestions.

I now have to wrestle with the FreeBSD disk setup.
