Solved 10.1 DVD did not work.

I think the FreeBSD team should know: I had one problem with the FreeBSD-10.1-RELEASE-amd64-dvd1.iso that I downloaded yesterday evening. After I burned the DVD it booted to the (if I got the name correct) VFS:root thingy; the place where Beastie himself can’t dig any deeper.

But lucky for me I had just downloaded the FreeBSD-10.1-RELEASE CD version before the DVD version and it installed perfectly. So I guess I’ll skip the packages thing and just deal with SVN and ports as usual since I have now gained experience with them since 10.0.

Other than the problem I had with the new DVD version, I think FreeBSD finally got a stronger handle on their project but I do see there are a lot of upgrade issues, but they did warn that there may be problems in the release notes. I'm glad that I can use the CD and take it from there since this is new life since 11.0 is working on the super-changes. After that it may be smooth sailing again. I really like 10.1.

Just when I’m getting the hang of things, I come to learn that one of my (now two) machines had unseated hardware. The plastic housing that holds the CPU fan is half-broken and the CPU fan has been hanging on the final thread of its plastic foundation. The same thing happened to another machine of the same brand months ago, but this one also had one of my memory chips not all the way clamped down, I guess for fooling with both machines trying to fix the other, (switching things around), and to think I thought computer hardware would live forever or at least a good fifteen years, just like a hard drive would. Now I understand that the five year rule could apply to anything built after 2008. My 1998 HP/Compaq is still running. Anyway, I’m sure that was the problem but I am too beat to try again. I blew my whole weekend to this very minute and disturbed this community in the process. Sorry about the false alarm.

It’s 4:00am and I could not give in. I'm running the same DVD on my good machine. It has to be a bad download of this DVD version or I should have waited for a few days instead of rushing.
Code:
Vfs.root.mountfrom=cd9660 ……
….
,,,,
da0s1a …
zfs:tank …
This could be another issue but now my machine just not totally shut down on its own as I write this note. But the lights in my home are still on. The reboot is OK. I think I’ll stick with the CD install for now. It's the greatest since 8.2.

Good morning.
