After installing GhostBSD, selected keyboard layout was used in X/xorg, but not in console. According to this vt is the current default console. Keyboard layout is in /usr/share/vt/keymap/colemak.acc.kbd
Solution: edit /etc/defaults/rc.conf keymap="colemak.acc.kbd" and /etc/rc.conf...
It's easy to configure the console keyboard layout, e.g. for German with keymap="de.kbd" in /etc/rc.conf.
However, when I escape to the loader prompt during boot, I'm faced with a US layout. Typing pathnames and such becomes painful.

I'm looking for a keymap that would allow me to use my external extended Apple keyboard, french layout (USB) on FreeBSD 11.2-RELEASE. I'm currently using /usr/share/syscons/keymaps/fr.macbook.acc.kbd but it's not satisfying: can't find antislash, tilde, pipe, etc.

Developing a custom layout on Latin Alphabet.
1. Where can I find the existing keymaps so that I can edit them?
2. How to replace my existing layout with the custom layout?
