I had a similar situation recently with two Samsung SSDs. CAM status errors on two brand new disks without any real drive problems. I managed to get rid of the errors by putting the disks behind an HBA in pass through mode. Not ideal obviously, but I had a spare one laying around. I haven't put...
Not to hijack the thread, but does anyone know if there are plans to update mailpile to the latest version (1.0) in ports? It seems as though its still stuck at the beta (0.5) version.
I also asked protonmail about supporting FreeBSD and they basically didin't say a whole lot. I think their support for anything other than Windows, Mac OS and mobile devices is probably going to be next to slim. Why on earth is the Linux client still in beta? I should have been more careful in...
I too am in the same boat. One thing that I did recently was to use a SIP phone like Linphone to call into a Zoom meeting. It worked fine, but I think I understand what you are looking for. I am currently trying out a couple of other things and will eventually share my notes.
I can vouch as a paid user of protonmail that it is a very good email service. However I am rather disappointed that they seem to not have an interest in offering the bridge client for *BSD as they do for Linux.
I could see a future where for pure reasons of efficiency and cost savings one might want to just use ZOL on Linux. Would there by any advantage to using it on FreeBSD once both ZFS implementations are at parity?
This has been some time coming. The number of commits to ZFS from Linux developers has been massive. Hopefully this means that new eatures will be integrated more rapidly across the consortium.
Reviving this because pretty soon the only way to use Zotero will be the standalone version since the plugin version no longer works in Firefox 57+. Firefox-ESR will be deprecated soon, which has been the only way to run Zotero on FreeBSD. Is there anyone out there that uses Zotero and who has...
Is anyone aware as to whether the protonmail bridge works under FreeBSD? They appear to have a Linux bridge that is in beta. This is really the only thing keeping me from switching all of my mail over. I like the convenience of a client (as well as the ability to read mails offline).
And...years later.
What IDEs actually do work under FreeBSD? Apart from RKward (which is really nice), what are others using as an augment to the console to improve their workflows.
Yeah, it should be possible to get approximate functionality from ZFS by careful snapshot and prune policy. With that being said I think it would be extremely beneficial having HAMMER in FreeBSD as it has some tools which are simply better for this kind of thing. Not to mention a better...
Only FreeBSD has full support for Nvidia cards. DragonFly has excellent support for Intel graphics that are mostly on par with what Linux has since they use the same DRM interface from what I understand.
DragonFly would be a logical move for a FreeBSD user, they use the same ports/pkg system...
Wow. I am in awe of what this thread has become, I thought it would be one of those threads where people said "meh" and continued carrying on.
I do think that FreeBSD "the project" should have revised their own code of conduct with home grown and carefully decided language instead of merging in...
