Solved iocage jail not starting

This is my first experience with an iocage jail.

I managed to create one and I can see it using iocage list but I can't start it so must have created in wrongly.

This is what I used

iocage create -r 15.0-RELEASE -n myjail dhcp=on boot=on

What's missing?

iocage list displays it as down. iocage start myjail says started OK, but also says configuring VNET FAILED
 
After reading through https://freebsd.github.io/iocage/ I have managed to start my jail but can't get networking configured.

The Networking section https://freebsd.github.io/iocage/networking.html makes it sound very straightforward but I can't figure out whether Shared IP and VNET are the same thing. In any case, after trying to follow the examples I can't ping anything from within the jail.

There too much scope for error in the instructions.

I ran iocage set ip4_addr="em0|192.168.1.99" myjail but from within the jail I get

ping: send socket: Operation not permitted

when trying ping 192.168.1.1.

Obviously something is missing.
