C Admitting my AI usage

I liked the final paragraph. I've thought for a long time, it's when you're really struggling with some horrible debugging problem, or trying to learn some new area at high speed... all those familiar scenarios ... that's when you're growing. Growing is hard work and requires a lot of effort. But when you need to start feeling nervous, is when everything seems to be going too easily, with no real challenges, when the jobs are all easy-peasy... because that's when you're not growing. Seek out the difficult stuff.
 
I'm currently using A.I. But i will force myself to understand all code A.I. creates , this in order to become un-dependent. But then you can ask A.I. to give explaining remarks on each line... I.e. use A.I. against its own company interests...
 
I had a couple of old-school physics professors who refused to ever use electronic calculators, for the same reason. They figured out that using calculators de-skilled them. Doing all the maths required mentally or on paper required a lot of effort and took longer, but gave them a much stronger handle on what they were working on. They were right, too.

Good intention, a lot of people are sure saying the same. But after a while, soon or later, they will begin trusting A.I., and begin to create code with A.I. that they do not understand. I suspect, it is inevitable, and it will be a tragedy.

As a teacher i asked the exercise like calculate ((1+ 1*10^(-1000000))-1)*10^(+1000001) :).
With my red pen i noted their results as result on their test.

Once the last couple of generations who actually learned how to write software by themselves are gone, the later generations coming along will have no-one who knows how to do it. Once AI is in the schools, and the programming course becomes teaching them how to write the prompt and then take the code it's written verbatim.

Of course at the current rate of progress AI's may surpass humans completely before we even get to that stage. Once AI's start to write code independently of humans. Perhaps it's already happening.

Not likely. Managers and bosses are valuated by the number of souls they command.
More likely the whole company goes under thanks to competition blasting past them thanks to Ai induced efficiency.
If the efficiency happens all over, having no job won't be that bad, because everything will be tad cheaper too.

Caveat tho:
This time it is happening very fast. And it is not the same when down trodden aspiring farm hands were moving near factories for better paid and more value add work i.e. moving up the status ladder.
This time it might be mostly down the status ladder - from software programmer to idk cybercab cleaner, robot trainer. It might not matter if one uninstalls the Ego but reproduction might get further take a hit as females care very much about status and the 80:20 hypergamy is pretty bad already.

We better not get too much into the politics stuff, however, I think you're assuming a bit of a best-case scenario there. Just think of how mass unemployment has worked out for people in the past. Did you ever read "the grapes of wrath"? Being out of work didn't work out very nicely for people in the past... we had two world wars in the last century that sprang from mass poverty. Still, maybe it will be different this time, I suppose it's possible, ...maybe. They told us "you'll own nothing and you'll be happy", well, the "you'll own nothing" part is a sure thing, but as for the "be happy" part, I'm not so sure; it's never worked out that way in the past.

True. However we already employ people doing completely useless work. 90% of office jobs are like that. If we can afford (barely) it now, certainly we can continue employing them that way.
Doesn't go for programmers tho. They are expensive and not politically significant enough.

However I would argue that this pretend work is detrimental to human spirit and in case of women results in horrible birth rates.
Also I would do this stealthy UBI variant in a way their BS jobs would not put strain on productive sectors. Yeah, your bureau can have million people, well paid BUT they are forbidden to produce any output.
