Wanting to run pkg upgrade i noticed that some packages wanted to install a lot of additional pkg such as xorg-server, nvidia drivers and so forth some of these packages like wireshark-nox11 you would expect wouldn't need this at all !?

python312 and python311 now have a xorg-server dependency? it's because of expat depending on xorg-server right now. I think something is wrong.

This is in latest, I mean why would wireshark-nox11 need xorg-server !? and nvidia drivers in turn? I mean why have a nox11 pkg if it is required? Even rsync why would it need xorg-server to run anything?

need xorg-server !? and nvidia drivers in turn?
Also, xorg-server doesn't even have a dependency on the nvidia-drivers. Even if -nox11 would have accidentally ended up including X, it still doesn't explain the NVidia drivers. Also interesting, it wants to install nvidia-driver-340 and nvidia-driver-390. They conflict with each other. Same for nvidia-kmod-340 and nvidia-kmod-390.

Something's certainly messed up here.

So went back to quarterly and now this shows as i would expect:

[FreeBSD-ports] is a repository name used for the 15 branch.
[FreeBSD] is a repsository name used for the 14 branch.

I suspect some pkg .conf stuff got slightly out of tune in your /usr/local/etc/pkg/repos/FreeBSD.conf or elsewhere.

Can you post the output of:
pkg -vv | sed -nE -e '/^OSVERSION|^ABI/ p' -e '/^Repositories:/,$ p'
