OrcaSlicer - adding and removing filaments doesn't work

Now that we have cad/OrcaSlicer in ports, I installed it from a package

When I try to add filaments using the "Add/remove filaments" choice in the filament drop down menu, the process completes, but no filament gets added.
I've also tried running the setup wizard again, but it does not add filaments either.
I'm using the standard setup for a Sovol SV07 Plus printer that comes with OrcaSlicer (well, I will be using it if I can just get the filament profiles i need configured).

Is this working for somebody else?
 
I only do subtractive work.

I know my boss played hell trying to upgrade to 4 colors. Last I heard he can still only print one color with the new head.
Upgrading the firmware was a SOB. I got dragged in unwillingly. Elegoo something or another. STM32 iNSIDE.
 
I managed to get it working. OrcaSlicer (on FreeBSD, current package) is a bit brittle; if you try to visit the Device page, it crashes. Other than that, it works fine with my Snapmaker U1 so far.
 
OrcaSlicer came with my Sovol SV06Ace printer but only for I/OS and MSWindows. About a 18 months ago, I played with building it on Arch and Debian and came away with the impression that cutting edge features were taking priority over code quality. I ended up generating a printer profile for the SV06Ace in PrusaSlicer and never went back.
 
My boss ended up switching back to the "One Color" print head because he could not switch colors with the 4 Color upgraded head. Elegoo.
It never worked right even with a second replacement one. Maybe one color change per job worked if he was lucky.
Cutting the filament then backing it up and loading the new color is quite a feat.
He bought a proper 4 color printer instead. Windows dolt using Orca.

I don't understand why they use the most minimalist stuff like ESP32/STM for a 3D printer. I know its really just a print server but .... 2X16 screen and usb jack is user facing interface....
Sure there are high end ones and you get what you pay for.

I was thinking yesterday. Imagine if HP was in 3D printers. What would filament cost.

I use PrusaSlicer for my Sovol SV07+ too. But with the new Snapmaker U1, I wanted to see if OrcaSlicer would work, since it comes with a profile for that printer. So far, works well enough.
