The touchpad only works when waking from sleep mode.

Can you try to boot with a paired down loader.conf and make sure you have devd_enable="YES in rc.conf

Sorry , what I meant to say was there is too much stuff in your loader.conf . So just boot with a simplified loader.conf and see how it behaves.

Also more details about the actual hardware would be useful. Usually touchpads register on the usb bus so show your usbconfig output.
 
I didn’t have it on FreeBSD 14.0; I bought it recent.

I went through all the other steps and, after restarting, everything is still the same; you have to suspend it, and then it works...
