wordpress pkg

I have just noticed that there is a www/wordpress pkg available on freshports.

Is there any documentation on this packages and what else needs to be installed to get it working?

I presume apache24 php+ mysql

Whilst that shows how to install wordpress, which is relatively straightforward and there are numerous guides, the one above does not actually install the pkg www/wordpress.

I'd try installing it and see what it presents (it might have PHP mysql extension as a dependency but it probably shouldn't require a mysql server by itself; not sure if wp pkg would be useful without webserver but which one might it present?)

I use WP master from Git and needed at least these (iirc imagick's recommended but I prefer lighter gd):

php85-mysqli php85-intl php85-mbstring php85-xml php85-curl php85-dom php85-zlib php85-sodium php85-fileinfo php85-zip php85-iconv php85-gd

I thought I had installed everything needed when trying to login to 192.168.1.23/wordpress I get

Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL extension which is required by WordPress.

Please check that the mysqli PHP extension is installed and enabled.

php85-mysqli is installed but doesn't show up under php_info.php

There is a section labelled mysqlnd.

Anyone know what is causing the problem?

I'm trying different php modules

and have just got

mysqli
mysqlnd

but currently have a problem starting apache with these pkgs

What are the problem(s)?

If you are getting as far as Wordpress reporting a MySQL extension issue, that suggests you've got Apache & PHP up and running at least, so you are almost there.

I don't use Wordpress but do use Apache, MySQL and PHP.

I'm making some progress but the installation process from within Wordpress has failed after entering database details.

There has been a critical error on this website.

Is there an error log which gives me a clue about this critical error ?

I'm running Wordpress in an IOCAGE jail.

Here is how I setup mysql to handle Wordpress:

#install wordpress database in mysql
iocage exec $JAIL mysql -u root <<EOF
CREATE DATABASE wordpress;
CREATE USER wp_user@localhost IDENTIFIED BY 'wp_pass';
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON wordpress.* TO wp_user@localhost;
FLUSH PRIVILEGES;
exit
EOF

Apache errors are usually in /var/log/httpd-<something> so Wordpress might have more information in the logs there.

I'd recommend breaking this into chunks - don't worry about Wordpress or MySQL yet - get Apache & PHP running first.

Then look at PHP/MySQL.

Then get to Wordpress once you've got all those going.

I think it's fine while creating the db through mysql, but the actual WP config site page should have 127.0.0.1

Not too sure how to see a log, but I'd try recreating the DB and use IP instead of localhost on WP. You might be able to do wp-config.php instead (says you can do it on fresh install) with define( 'DB_HOST', '127.0.0.1' );

I have been trying all sorts of things so error msgs from apache are no longer a problem.

The nice thing about PHP is that there are no compilation steps or anything like that - so you can grep for the message and see if there's anything in the code that gives you clues. Add

echo "Got here";

messages to the code and reload the page to see if you can figure out where it is falling over.

I have a script which is supposed to set the whole thing up.
This the MySQL bit:

For self-hosted internet facing Wordpress you need the required apache|nginx, mysql|mariadb and php versions. But for running Wordpress itself it might be worth considering to use the latest version and not a package. Just download and unzip https://wordpress.org/latest.zip, configure web server and go. Wordpress is just a bunch of php scripts.

The reason for using the latest version is basic security.

In my humble opinion there are less malicious attempts on the latest versions and latest plugin versions.

If you're not planning to face the internet then just ignore this.

At the moment I'm mainly interested in getting it installed via a script as it appears to be relatively simple to install. I have installed it in the past but am having some problems currently.

In the longer term I hope to use Drupal.
