USB4STREAM Support

Saw USB4 (and assumedly usb5) direct networking is coming to Linux. Would love to have this in FreeBSD to have hyper fast connectivity to my Macs that don’t have 10 or 40gb network cards.

Anyone know if this is something that could be ported?

USB (including networking) only gets like 1 meter long cables max due to signal degradation. That's on USB3.2. It's about 0.5-0.8 meter cables max for USB4. Why would you even bother?

Because Mac local LLM -> talking to a FreeBSD server that is the file store rather than downloading huge models every time. That’s just one example. USB4 is really useful on a laptop. Let’s say you want to load an 80gb vm file to bhyve… right now that takes forever over my usb3 flash drive and a decent time over 1gb Ethernet… this is especially helpful if the machines are on the same desk or just quick connecting a laptop to a server in the rack. It would beat paying $200 for a clunky 10gb to usb4 adapter that doesn’t travel well.
