It has to be a program that does something useful enough to be a base executable. That might be off topic as it's not a FreeBSD issue directly. And it wouldn't be a forum. This whole place is a forum
THIS! And as you said: Including all posts that go "that Chatbot told me to do X and Y" and those exhaustingly long and generic slop-summaries with information density lower than any marketing babble...I'm pro this idea, if that includes a ban of AI postings in all other forums.
Might be a good idea indeed. It does seem like a major topic of interest to many, to warrant its own forum.
Really? So this doesn't exist? misc/claude-code, or misc/ollama, or misc/comfyui?That might be off topic as it's not a FreeBSD issue directly.
Actually, every section is a forum on its own, this place is called "forums" (plural) for a reason. And it wouldn't be a forum. This whole place is a forum
Should we then have subforums for everything on FreshPorts?
I believe we call them a subforum for a reason.Actually, every section is a forum on its own, this place is called "forums" (plural) for a reason.
Sub-forums.which are also called forums.
Reddit calls them sub-reddits. The forum I used to mod called them sub-forums. I've always known them as sub-forums elsewhere. It's not a first occurance. You can believe whatever you want, doesn't make it true though.
THIS! And as you said: Including all posts that go "that Chatbot told me to do X and Y" and those exhaustingly long and generic slop-summaries with information density lower than any marketing babble...
"forum" has multiple meanings. I stuck to the way this website uses it. But I couldn't care less. And it wouldn't be a forum. This whole place is a forum
I vote for this because many AI related discussions are a form of off-topic or not completely specific to FreeBSD management/usage.How about "Artificial Intelligence" under Miscellaneous? Machine Learning is a subset of AI. LLM is a particular way of doing AI. There is also the old fashioned AI (expert systems and such)!
Those can stay in "offtopic".I vote for this because many AI related discussions are a form of off-topic or not completely specific to FreeBSD management/usage.
Too hulking. How about "ML, LLM and generative AI"? Think that covers most of it?
Redundant, because we already are under FreeBSD"AI and LLMs on FreeBSD"?
