Solved [vm-bhive] Console text is scrambled

Hi guys, this vm-bhyve thing is driving me crazy…

Now the console text is completely scrambled:

Is there a way to fix it, or do I have to reinstall the system again?

😩

That certainly doesn't look right. Is this what you get from the vm console ... command?

What version of FreeBSD is the host? And from some of the readable text I assume the VM is 15.0-RELEASE? It almost looks like a baudrate mismatch. But then everything should have been messed up.

My stable/15 server certainly has no issues with the various 15.0-RELEASE VMs I have running on it. So it doesn't look like a common issue.

Yes, when I start the console through vm console start vm

Host: FreeBSD 15
Guest: FreeBSD 15

I can reboot my computer to see if this fix it.

vm console ... uses a virtual "null-modem" serial connection (nmdm(4)) to the VM. Vm-bhyve connects to it using cu(1) (by default; you can switch it to tmux). There isn't much that can go wrong here.
