Solved 13.0-RELEASE dvd.iso doesn't mount

Working on Debian 10.7, downloaded FreeBSD-13.0-RELEASE-amd64-dvd1.iso , sha256sum checks OK, dd to usb stick, installed base system + ports + src on a spare partition, reboot OK. I want to mount the dvd.iso, or USB stick, to install packages offline, but the secondary GPT table is corrupt or invalid, and the content part of the dvd shows as 4.5G of free space... Do I have to burn this to a real DVD before it will work?

I see this frequently, probably not only with FreeBSD-provided files.

I vaguely recall someone telling me that it's an expected side effect of what must be done to make the installer compatible with the broadest possible range of hardware. (True? False?)

In cases such as this: if the primary table is OK, then it's probably OK to ignore issues with the secondary table.
