Solved Quarterly and Latest Ports Branches

on a second thought: mobile systems have you covered in a somewhat similar way. My Android device will update "apps" automatically and just take what's coming from upstream, while the base system is handled in release cycles.
Yep, that's comparable to pkg-upgrade(8) (which only updates third party software, if you think of the ports/packages as an "app store") and freebsd-update(8) (which only updates the base OS).

I observed that threads are closed when the posters verbally spit on each other & keep on insulting although they're told not to. Otherwise, even solved threads are kept open, as they're sometimes picked up again long time after the 1st solution. E.g., the same or similar issue comes up again after an upgrade.

Yep, we generally don't close threads unless they spiral out of control. Thread is already marked as "Solved", that's good enough for us.
