Other vera crypt or geli

Hi all,

A question about disk encryption. On Linux I did use encrypted partitions. From what I read I can use geli or vera crypt.

What I would like to know is, what is the best portable encryption. I am preparing a situation where I might not be able to assist recovery of data in a team where at least one person is a semi expert in Linux. In that case I would love to simply have a document where they can take an usb stick or ssd drive with an encrypted partition containing photo's, documents and music. All in all some 200 GB data. They should be able to simply attach it to Linux and be able to open it with a password.
The bsd machine has zfs per default if someone wonders.

Is there a best pratice to solve this?

They should be able to simply attach it to Linux and be able to open it with a password.
Then geli(8) is out of the question. It's not available on Linux.

VeraCrypt encrypted volumes can be used at least on Windows, macOS, Linux, FreeBSD (maybe on other platforms as well I don't know about), but format the volume with a file system both systems can handle easily.
