Solved [Solved] /usr/ports/UPDATING

As I only use pkgng, I don't install ports collection. Without reading /usr/ports/UPDATING, can I know about it? I mean , how can I know this solution?

You can use % pkg updating and % pkg help updating to have more information on how to use it.

Thank you for reply. As I don't install ports collection, I got the following message.

# pkg updating
pkg: Warning: expecting a boolean for the 'enabled' key of the 'FreeBSD' repo,  the value has been correctly converted, please consider fixing

You're right in fact this command relies on the file /usr/ports/UPDATING from the ports tree. Alternatively you can browse http://svnweb.freebsd.org/ports/head/UPDATING?view=markup

I would recommend getting a proper ports tree. It's only a couple of K anyway. It will make it easier to compare versions too; pkg version -vI for example.
