Pine Star64 Risc-V available April 4th?

This may be the same cpu as the VisionFive board? The Pine product is 80 dollars.
Any Chance of it working with FreeBSD.
I'd really just be buying entertainment.

The board itself has the same form factor of the RockPro64/Quartz64 but the PCIe slot is only x1 lanes.
Why not just go with MiniPCie slot instead. It has been the embedded standard for 14 years now.
M.2 is the successor. Why a card slot on a 133mm long board. I don't get it.

I thought about getting my dremmel out and cutting the wifi chip right off my embedded board.
RockPro64 took the right approach with a SDIO module for wifi.

I see they sold out in 6 days too (Or less?).

i wonder what the initial production batch was.

The Pine64 people pushing this is good. That should make for some stability.
They have a good reputation with me.

Of course that USB would need to be USB3 to provide the 12V.

The FU740 was used on HiFive Mini-ITX boards with 150W Power Supply recommended.

So it may need more power than I thought. I bet its under 12W/12V.

Even with NVMe my RockPro64 draws under 500ma. average 700ma peak at boot.

Its designed for Linux, which maybe gives it a chance.
From the more detailed wiki (software is on github).
"The releases are still in alpha state and are only fit for testing purposes."
I don't believe it was ever listed, just always out of stock? Delayed?

As an aside - they have a Risc-V tablet available for preorder on April 13th.
It has a twin RK3566 64-bit Arm tablet. Prices both start at $159.
Will it actually launch? What will the battery life be of the risc-V version :)
Ida Know.

Edit - I think its too alpha for me.
Maybe next year.
I'm still struggling with my pinephone.
