Discussion: Duke Numem on Freebsd

Cool!
The idiot proof install instructions (perfect for me, thanks!) worked absolutely cleanly.
Now I do have Duke Nukem running on my system, smoothly, exactly as in the old days on a sufficient machine.
Thank you very much for sharing.

Come get some!

Damn, those alien b*st*rds are gonna pay for shooting up my ride.

I used obs studio to record the game play as prores video with virtual oss to capture the audio

Code:
sudo virtual_oss -Q 0 -C 2 -c 2 -r 48000 -b 16 -s 1024 -P /dev/dsp1 -R /dev/null -w vdsp.wav -l dsp

In obs i selected Audio input (oss) and set the DSP to custom and set the path to

Code:
/dev/dsp

Then imported the footage into Davinci Resolve on Freebsd to do a quick edit
and compressed the footage with Handbrake as h265

It's one of the few games I actually have installed (and playing once every two years or so). Still awesome. Btw, I was the one adding the "FULL" port option -- I just liked having a way to install the "full" game files with the package system-wide 😉

i actually prefer the old style "blocky" graphics

vermaden did a great write up on installing urban terror on Freebsd
but unfortunately most of the servers dont seem to have anyone playing on them

doom-wolfendoom looks interesting but there is no maintainer for the port
