that is unforgivable...worse, he invented javascript.
True, I have all AI and crypto stuff disabled. I'm pretty sure it's open source...yeah not sure how bad it's become now but back when i used it (2020-mid '21) you could just disable that crypto reward feature and move on
kinda sucks it's closed-source so we can't tell if it still does anything related even when that is disabled
What reason is there to use Brave without the crypto rewards?you could just disable that crypto reward feature and move on
What reason is there to use Brave
can't tell, i don't really remember why i used it specifically ¯\_(ツ)_/¯What reason is there to use Brave without the crypto rewards?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vivaldi_(web_browser) makes it sound like Chromium with extras:Bloated. I'm slowly migrating to Vivaldi to ditch both Google Chrome & Brave as I don't want "AI" in the browser.
...Even though it is also Chromium-based, Vivaldi aims to revive the features of the Presto-based Opera with its own proprietary modifications.

that'd be the opposite for me, i like Chromium's features so much that i'll only switch to firefox once it tops themFirefox has to change pretty hard for me to go to a new browser, but I'm aware of options now![]()
Agree, but Chromium sometimes fail for me on Google services.i think Chromium is actually the least bloated out of all the Chromium-based browsers, i mean it's literally the base for them
not saying it's not bloated, worth clarifying
oh wow that's odd, never had any issues with themAgree, but Chromium sometimes fail for me on Google services.
yeah there're times i'd like to use a very minimalist web browser like surf to match with the rest of my setup but the internet is simply unusable without adblockers nowI still use Firefox for some stuff. Web browsers and the web suck so much these days you can't rely on just one with multiple profiles.
Brave is a thin layer around Chromium. So if you don't like Chromium, don't use Brave.I'd consider myself an anti-Chromium guy, but I've been using Brave ...
Read about Brendan Eich sometime. One of the Silicon Valley Tech Bro, although not from the Ebay/Paypal mafia like so many others, but instead from the Netscape group. He is politically and religiously conservative, unlike many other Tech Bros who are more libertarian. He started the Brave project after he got fired as the CEO of Mozilla because of anti-LGBTQ comments he was making in public. Similarly, he got in trouble at the Brave organization for his public comments that were anti Covid response. A friend knows him reasonably well, as does a lawyer I deal with for real estate law issues, they all attend the same church.i've heard the guy behind the company itself was involved in some shady stuff tho', ...
this, if you don't like Chromium but use web browsers based on it you just don't like its interface ratherBrave is a thin layer around Chromium. So if you don't like Chromium, don't use Brave.

His political opinions are irrelevant, though. I only judge software based on technical merit. And I find the terms "tech bro", "crypto bro", etc. boring & lame.Read about Brendan Eich sometime. Is there a port for Vivaldi yet? I'm not seeing one in quarterly and don't have system pointing at latestBloated. I'm slowly migrating to Vivaldi to ditch both Google Chrome & Brave as I don't want "AI" in the browser.
