Pkg download speed is ultra slow i could compile these and still finish earlier. I live in Greece

Well, what generally helps to speed up your Internet connection is to use 8.8.8.8 as DNS rather than the DNS given by your ISP which is preconfigured in your router. Maybe give that a try?

Share your NetBSD experience (for FreeBSD users)

Thanks for the info, but could someone answer the original question, please? Or has nobody ever tried to flash NetBSD to a smartphone, or can at least rule out it's not possible in the first place?

Share your NetBSD experience (for FreeBSD users)

Well, provided that the Wi-Fi works, similar to a Raspberry, such a device could be a little server in the private home network serving as ftp, dlna, samba server or whatever, accessible and configurable through ssh from your PC. As those smartphones all have a slot for micro SD cards, I guess...

Share your NetBSD experience (for FreeBSD users)

Hello SR_Ind, very interesting opinion you wrote there, indeed! I myself have never dealt with IoT so far, so I'd like to hear some concrete examples or projects from your own experience where you use NetBSD with the Raspberry? Also given the apparently good support for ARM SoC's by NetBSD, I...

    Steamuxulation redux

Yes, me, too, since a few weeks ago. I am also posting a screenshot. I do not quite understand the further comments that apparently fix the problem?

    FreeBSD on Xbox 360

Not just your opinion. I think it's absolutely useless to run any OS on a device that only has 256 MB of RAM. What I wonder is how it is / was possible to run graphically quite sophisticated games like the PS3 games on a machine that only has that little amount of RAM? That would not be possible...

    FreeBSD on Xbox 360

Thank you for that input comparing it with a Raspberry Pi 3, which I happen to have. I run it with Raspios 12, because FreeBSD unfortunately does not support sound, wifi and gpu hardware acceleration. A real pity, because FreeBSD really runs smooth on a Raspberry Pi 3.

What about 2D/3D hardware acceleration and audio support on Raspberry PI?

A little update here: I flashed another SD card with the new Raspios12 version and glxinfo is looking good now! It seems that there is hardware acceleration for v3d through mesa now. Is this correct? What could this mean for FreeBSD / what would have to be done? I am also attaching apt list...

Many Kodi apps not working on FreeBSD - Python error?

Yes, I have contacted him explaining the problem. He also suggested installing databases/py-sqlite3 as vg did and asked me to report back. So good thing!

Many Kodi apps not working on FreeBSD - Python error?

What is this? While somebody is even suggesting to file a PR for that reason, someone else wants to start a discussion about hypothetical almost innumerable plugins that would require special dependencies each? I can only say that much: For the last few years that I have been using kodi, after...

Many Kodi apps not working on FreeBSD - Python error?

Obviously an add-on or plugin, be it in the official add-on repository or not, cannot install a dependency at OS-level. Being that said, I do not concur in defining it as a "dependency of the plugin". This also raises the question, why there was no such problem in the past with any of those...

What about 2D/3D hardware acceleration and audio support on Raspberry PI?

After choosing now "G2 GL (Full KMS) OpenGL desktop driver with full KMS", assigning 256 MB of video memory and rebooting, the line "dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d" is present in config.txt (see screenshot). But nothing has changed, the output of glxinfo is the same, only the value for video memory...

What about 2D/3D hardware acceleration and audio support on Raspberry PI?

I am attaching the complete glxinfo. However, it looks like you originally described in #5: Although it says "direct rendering: Yes", further below it says: Extended renderer info (GLX_MESA_query_renderer): Vendor: Mesa/X.org (0xffffffff) Device: llvmpipe (LLVM 11.0.1, 128 bits)...

Many Kodi apps not working on FreeBSD - Python error?

Thank you so much! pkg install py39-sqlite3 fixed the problem. So why is this package not a dependency of kodi?

What about 2D/3D hardware acceleration and audio support on Raspberry PI?

I have Raspios 11 (bullseye) running on my RPi3 with all packages updated through apt update and apt upgrade. In raspi-config there are two options inside the advanced menu for the graphics acceleration: - G1 Legacy Original non-GL desktop driver - G2 GL (Full KMS) OpenGL desktop driver with...

Many Kodi apps not working on FreeBSD - Python error?

I am using FreeBSD 13.2-RELEASE-p2 GENERIC amd64 with the latest quarterly packages, but many Kodi apps, including Pluto TV do not work anymore for over a year now, as far as I remember. I am attaching the full kodi.log and info of my installed packages, but I think the problem is here...

Other How to mount image.dd file

Not very explicit. I need the same thing now and that answer does not help me. I don't find an explanation for this in the man page. What kind of filesystem is even a .dd-image? Can you please post the exact commands?

    Half-Life - In 4 easy steps

Of course not. The BMS directory comes from a wine installation of the windows version as I said in the beginning. You told me to create the directory Games/HL2 in my home directory and the copy the BMS directory into it. Did I? What I did is (as root / comment #77) python3 ./waf install...
