Issues installing on a UEFI / GPT system.

Alas, the trick about zeroing the active flag didn't work for me. Is it possible to install Grub (for example) and then boot FreeBSD from it?

Issues installing on a UEFI / GPT system.

Thanks @kpa. In fact I was able to restore the original boot options this way. Anyway does this mean that I won't be able to boot FreeBSD at all on this machine unless I use something like an USB key?

Issues installing on a UEFI / GPT system.

I'm trying to install FreeBSD 9.1 on an Asus X501A laptop. Since the USB installation medium doesn't boot with UEFI, I disabled SecureBoot, enabled the CSM and then I was able to boot from the USB key. The laptop contained the following partitions:EFI system partition (300M)Basic data...

    Problems with Broadcom BCM4321

Yes, I tried that, but all I get is the following: siba_bwn0: <Unknown> mem 0x93100000-0x93103fff irq 17 at device 0.0 on pci3 siba_bwn0: warn: multiple PCI(E) cores siba_bwn0: unsupported coreid (USB 1.1 Host) So I guess that this means it is unsupported ? (I tried both bwn_v4_ucode and...

    Problems with Broadcom BCM4321

I got my hands on a MacBook Air 2009, and I'm trying to see if I'm able to use the internal Wi-Fi card on FreeBSD 9/i386. The output of pciconf -lv is as follows: none6@pci0:3:0:0: class=0x028000 card=0x0090106b chip=0x432814e4 rev=0x05 hd=0x00 vendor = 'Broadcom corporation'...

Unable to authenticate users with Samba

Thanks for the suggestion, but in the end the solution was much simpler: the problem was caused by the fact that I hadn't setup the hostname. Once I did that, the authentication problem disappeared.

Unable to authenticate users with Samba

I recently installed FreeBSD 8.1/amd64 on a new machine, but now I'm unable to authenticate users with Samba 3.3 I configured the machine as many other times, i.e. using the provided smb.conf, changing the workgroup name and adding a couple of shares. A simple scenario with user security. The...

    Installing from USB stick

Maybe solved ! (It seems the only way for me to find the solution is to post the problem here... :D) You need to force a rescan of the devices. To do so, enter the "options" menu from the main menu, and select "Re-Scan Devices" on the right. Now the installer should be able to find the usb...

    Installing from USB stick

I've got the same problem. I'm trying to install from the amd64 image downloaded from the official site, but I'm unable to choose the usb stick as installation media. The fixit environment won't work either, because the installer says that it's unable to find the usb stick (?). I've enabled USB...

xorg on an Asus 1005P (GMA 3150)

found solution Meh, as soon as I took the time to post the question I found a solution :D. The card will work fine with xf86-video-intel29, but the IGNORE line in the Makefile must be commented out.

xorg on an Asus 1005P (GMA 3150)

Greetings, I'm trying to properly configure Xorg to run on an Asus 1005P netbook, equipped with a GMA 3150 gpu. Is the card supported by the current xorg-video-intel ? The driver seems to identify the card just fine, but will simply show a blank screen (the log is in the attached file). I...
