Hi guys, sorry that the FreeBSD Forums were offline for a couple of hours. We were hit by an exploit against a slightly outdated XenForo version that we were still running. The same exploit hit quite a number of XenForo installations today...

Yes, Embarcadero bought out Borland. After many, many iterations, I understand the current 64-bit Delphi is free of the elemental bugs. I recently grabbed their freebie offering and found it the same as Lazarus: too many moving parts. So I...

Ha, I haven't seen your post before mentioning the Borland tools above. I've used C++ Builder extensively throughout the 00s, as I come from C background. I've always wondered why Microsoft did not equip VC++ with a true WYSIWYG form editor alike...

That option should probably be removed. It doesn't change anything, modern systems don't even work without ACPI. They are set up differently. A CD/DVD image (ISO) is read-only, in order for the system to properly boot it has to have some way of...

The defacement page had some javascript in it. One of those scripts fired off an endless stream of HTTP connections. That might be the reason.

Common misconception. Even the "limited" www user most webservers run on can be abused to attack/proxy other systems. It's not as "limited" as a lot of people think it is. As a matter of fact, it's not limited at all, it can do the same things as...

A long time ago the forums ran on phpBB for a while. It too had its fair share of security issues. Software rarely is completely free of bugs, open or closed source doesn't really matter. Closed source may be a bit better at hiding them.
