I found that this option was set in /usr/local/etc/pkg.conf, not by me of course as I wasn't even aware it existed. Anyways, now it's commented out so it shouldn't be a problem anymore.
That's news to me.
The FreeBSD DRM was in base. It was removed because it was unmaintainable without a lot of developer effort. We couldn't keep up with our limited resources (number of developers). And so here we are.
Thought this was solved, but was unable to yet make a worded domain name for my network ID
[ Modem IP address 192.168.255.255 domain name given by ISP, lan]
[ Could optionally have additional device connections wifi or wired ]
[ FreeBSD...
as SirDice said, there's no particular need to do this. but if you want to, you can: you "own" the .lan domain, so you can do whatever you want with it.
personally i think this is a bad idea because it means you have to remember what IP...
FWIW, I just setup a parallel SCSI target with 14.3 and got the same iSCSI nonsense:
$ sudo ctladm portlist -v
Port Online Frontend Name pp vp

Target: naa.500000033d7b1700

I upgraded the firmware of the QLE2692 with the QConvergeConsoleCLI.

I don't use that option, at least I did not set it explicitly.
Four the second part, can this be documented in the pkgbase page in the wiki? I followed that page and the kernel upgrade procedure is not mentioned at all.
are you using the BACKUP_LIBRARIES option with pkg? there is a known issue where this doesn't work properly with pkgbase (although it should): https://github.com/freebsd/pkg/issues/2501
also for future reference, you should first upgrade the...
My UEFI machines don't support a UEFI CLI shell. There's only the GUI. They get nasty when they cannot find a bootable system. As my systems are clones of my standard install I cloned from one of my non-UEFI machines, creating the EFI partition...
I'm unable to get overall sound working with wine packages regardless of the audio backend, but switching the backend impacts the underlying Windows audio subsystems. When using OSS, I have the primitive mapper device, but no Wasapi or...
What are the error messages?
I currently buy the WD SN850x line (when I don't go for U.2). I also have a FreeBSD install on a HP SSD showing up as "SSSTC CL1-8D256-HP L183", but I don't recall any of my other SSDs giving me trouble with FreeBSD...
Hmm. My servers downstairs, connected to a KVM switch, don't run X. What's being discussed here doesn't work. I simply power off the monitor. Job done. ;)
IMO you get what you pay for.
My Acer 4752 has a Samsung EVO 870 1 TB and my other two laptops have WD Black SN850X SSDs. Each is double the price you're looking at but they're each good for over 600 cycles.
Many times buying cheap means you...
MurrayRothbard, we're twins; I'm using target mode with the quad-port edition of that same HBA (QLE2694) in 14.3-RELEASE.
My QLE2694 was running firmware level 8.03.05. And at that firmware level, isp became unhappy and stalled the host during...

Not sure what they're waiting for, Wayland and X are already pretty well supported--and from what I see on the forums, not doing horribly with Xlibre either, for those who want it.
Again from way back in the 80's during my dog training days, there was some German dog trainer--at the time, I was doing what's called Schutzhund, tracking, obedience, and protection, and everyone who was into it in the US Northeast at least...
But I am speaking about google receiving the mails from my server.
I have no spam filter in my mail reader (alpine), I see the classification of google.
Google has other means to recognize spam, can see the lot of people that receive it on their...
I comply with everything here:

It is frustrating, it...
With a minor version upgrade, from 14.1 to 14.3 for example, the ABI is not allowed to change. So any userland application built on 14.0 will work just fine on 14.9 (fictitious version, to illustrate the point). With a major version change the...
Hi,
using the built-in resolver, is there a way to specify the source address a system uses when making DNS queries?
If i'm not mistaken by default it uses the IP address of the outbound interface over which the query will be sent (although I...
Alright, just checking. You wouldn't be the first that accidentally upgraded to -CURRENT 😁
It also narrows down the possible changes that may have happened to bhyve and it's kernel modules.
Loader failed, which is Grub (loader="grub").

Hi,
I added debug="yes" to my config file, but there is no bhyve.log file :
[root@numenor ~]# locate bhyve.log
/vms/valinor/vm-bhyve.log
I can see the line
Oct 06 17:30:12: [debug mode: yes]
in vm-bhve.log
Answering to SirDice, I'm in...
I had cleaned my periodic mail folder yesterday. So couldn't find an example.
But found one still stuck in the spam folder spamassasin marked as '*** SPAM ***', you want to know the reason?
It was one of the daily security emails. It shows a...
I guess we can say that the PC diverged into two branches... one towards the sophisticated graphics workstation market that is nowadays somewhat disparagingly called "the desktop", the other towards control and embedded (and perhaps a third...
Google does not give any reason in the headers. What Header should contain it?
DKIM, SPF and DMARC appear as passed.
Web.de does not put it in spam. Gmail was more tolerant. Something should have changed.

Here's how Nvidia overlay actually looks like:
Was this ever reported?
Or this?
In both cases you are using wine-proton: https://github.com/es-j3/steam-bottler/blob/3f5982ee3a5cb9555bc21896861751889448746e/src/steam-bottler#L152.

I'm not exactly sure who are you referring to.
I am the author of this topic, and LSU/steam is not my debate. I have issues with sound API. Speaking of which;
Do you maybe have more information on this part

That says a lot. 😂
I hope they do.
The way Xorg is isn't optimal. Not everyone understands that. Some have a different opinion. Source code upstream repositories which the majority is under permissive licenses shouldn't have bits like glibc, bc...
When considering to either:
switch from a (non-pkgbasified) 14.3-RELEASE to using pkgbase on 14.3-RELEASE
remain using 14.3-RELEASE pkgbase
note that pkgbase on 14.3-RELEASE is labelled experimental. Further developments are currently...
Yes, I've been using -CURRENT as my main FreeBSD since 2013. For every couple of hundred bugfixes and new features there may be one stinker. I've been very pleased with -CURRENT.
Even the run-up to 16-RELEASE it hasn't been that bad. I think I...
I wanted a different NetworkID or TLD for the subnet behind my FreeBSD machine, than the one given to me behind my modem by my Internet provider. I didn't want the same TLD and SLD name from my Internet provider from behind my modem to the...
Yes, but that's for your entire home network (or local company), there's no convention for using different (sub)domains for different subnets. I've set up DNS for my home lab eons ago and picked .home specifically because I was sure it wasn't a...
