Note that version 1.7.9 of automount(8) is available as filesystems/automount (moved from sysutils/automount as of creation of filesystems physical category).
You can also try my automount(8) alternative - https://vermaden.wordpress.com/2018/10/11/freebsd-desktop-part-17-automount-removable-media/ - more info here.
I would not trust Linux lsblk(8) either - that is why I wrote my own lsblk(8) version from scratch for FreeBSD - https://vermaden.wordpress.com/2019/09/27/list-block-devices-on-freebsd-lsblk8-style/ - details here.
Also - Linux lsblk(8) is...
GhostBSD had its first virtual GhostBSDCon which is also for other BSD's on the desktop in March 29th, 2025. There are few materials from this on GhostBSD's forums and on its official YouTube channel. This virtual conference presentation occurred...
I myself never tried, but if DragonflyBSD has full gcc in its kinda ports, it shoud have gfortran.
And, also I've never tried (I dislike FORTRAN except for number crunchers, and I have no needs for number crunchers / HPC), another option for LLVM...
Yes they do!

I will cross reference these.
I added "i.e. ThinkPad X13s" to the title for easier finding and tracking.

Thanks for letting me know that it is now available in different category ... for whatever reason - I did not got any notification that the category will change ...
Ok you wer defiinately rights as usual. I had three additional cron tasks that were bombin so I deleted them all and I a rebuliding from ground floor Thanks again for all your continued help

Zsh requires perl, which was kicked out of base for a good reason. The project would have to make a deperled fork of zsh for it to work, and even though I would want zsh, I can't see them doing that.
OK, thanks for that.
Things I use - like my typical pipe trains in POSIX sh(1) shell syntax - work as desired - seem I did not relied on word splitting.

It is a shell script written by vermaden that mimics lsblk from Linux indeed but made for our FreeBSD usage, so it is reliable, at least it has been for me since I use it.

I've spent quite a bit of time with tcpdump and wireshark (tshark on FreeBSD) looking at the traffic related to the rustdesk-server and its Windows clients. Today I noticed some interesting things.

I have to ask, what's the point of setting up an entirely separate OS?
If you wanna patch the kernel for improved performance, why not just follow the FreeBSD kernel development, and create a script to automate applying that specific patch? That...
You want to use the highest level language you can to develop a project with ease. You use assembly to enhance the speed or manipulation of data that a higher level language cannot or the compiler will not. This is why assembly is more likely...
I have enjoyed David Burne's work for a long time.
His film "True Stories" was ahead of its time.

I wrote an EXIF decoder as a class unit for Delphi.
Parsing the TIF headers is far more straightforward in inline ASM than farting around with Delphi high level code.
Where exactly does it hang? Is it the BIOS? In that case, you'll have to either fix the drive firmware, or the BIOS, or reconfigure your drives to not go to sleep. Anecdote about that below.
If it is not the BIOS, then look at the FreeBSD...
A fun way to learn x86 assembly is cracking software. OllyDbg on Windows, radare2 on *nix. Both support patching. (I find IDA Pro too heavy)
Last thing I cracked was probably Builder Xcessory Pro (a nifty Motif GUI builder) for digital...
There is a big difference between asm for the kernel, asm for userland programming, and specialized userland.
Userland programming uses common instructions and can be learned by looking at the output of compilers. Not that much point to it, you...
You may be able to leverage devd to match on the desired device and sysctl to set it to the default.
Heres a sample that I use to set permissions on a Nikon D610 when it's plugged in. It lives in /usr/local/etc/devd/d610.conf. Change the vendor...

The author specializes in kernel modifications for improved performance. Based on that, I guess that's what he did with FortranBSD. It would make more sense for Fortran to have a special bootstrap, and make it a wider purpose math processing...

Boffins are usually not admins; I didn't check FortranBSD, but if everything is set up for them to install it and start coding in Fortran, I see merit in that.

So, this question pops up quite regularly. Here are some things you can check:
Does the port still exist?
Packages are built from ports, so check an up to date ports tree, cgit ports, or Freshports. Ports do get deprecated (older, EoL...
Well, it is, as I can see. Link that you sent says that stable/15 was branched-off 5 September 2025 - and this is exactly the git branch I've built from. Regarding 15.0-ALPHA1: yeah, technically, it's no longer 15-STABLE, because 15-STABLE...
Hello there!
I've just upgraded from 14-STABLE to 15-STABLE:

15.0-ALPHA1
As part of that, I reinstalled pkg with pkg bootstrap -f and was just about to perform a pkg upgrade, but it reported me the following:

I would have thought it's the other way around. Any problem that might occur on a release upgrade can occur on *any* rolling release update.
In any case FreeBSD versions are only for the base system, with package you are free to do whatever you...
