Hey guy's and gal's,

I am not a huge fan of Gnome but thought you would find this useful, it's a terminal in the style of that used in the original Quake game, you press F12 while in the GUI and it descends from the top taking up about 1/3 of the screen.
Not essential but thought it was quite cool

Here is the link http://guake.org/

Enjoy.

There's lightweight a quake-like terminal [port]x11/yeahconsole[/port]
KDE, Gnome, etc are not required, only X.
The appropriate section of [FILE].Xdefaults[/FILE] might look as below:
Code: Select all
! yeahconsole
yeahconsole*term:xterm
yeahconsole*consoleHeight:25
yeahconsole*toggleKey:None+F12
#yeahconsole*background:#e7e3e7
yeahconsole*background:#000000
yeahconsole*foreground:#737373
yeahconsole*cursorColor:#737373
yeahconsole*xOffset:1
yeahconsole*restart:1
yeahconsole*keyFull:None+F10
yeahconsole*keySmaller:Control+KP_Subtract
yeahconsole*keyBigger:Control+KP_Add
yeahconsole*faceName: "Bitstream Vera Sans Mono":size=10:style=Regular:antialias=false:hinting=false
yeahconsole*metaSendsEscape
#yeahconsole*screenWidth:950
