Solved [Solved] Install weirdness - users and LZA corruption

Hi all,

I'm a returning user after several years (last time I installed FreeBSD it was version 6 I think). I'm jumping ship from Linux after the systemd fiasco. I'm having issues installing the 32 bit version of FreeBSD 10.

When I install, users added at install time with the defaults appear to be corrupting the passwd file.

Secondly, everything I try to install, i.e., pkg and several ports I've tried to make complain about LZA corruption and won't install.

(I'm away from my box and will be for a short while otherwise I'd post more detailed error reports).

Has anyone encountered this?

Re: Install weirdness - users and LZA corruption

Are you testing this all out in Virtualbox? That's the only thing that comes to mind based off the description. There are known corruption issues with 32 bit FreeBSD 10 documented in the release errata and a workaround you can apply http://www.freebsd.org/releases/10.0R/errata.html. If that's not it please post the exact messages you are seeing.

That's got to be it, I'll try that when I get back.

Many thanks!
