Solved Xorg don't work with Radeon HD 8210

hi,
Xorg don't work on Toshiba Satellite C70D.
I try "Xorg -configure" and run with new config but don't work too.

Thanks for your help,

That graphics adapter doesn’t appear in the supported list, but here in the forum there are reports that it is supported. If haven't done it yet, refresh your pkg repository catalogue or ports tree, install package/port graphics/drm-kmod and read AMD Graphics.

If you have drm-kmod installed and configured, but Xorg won't start, post dmesg and groups (as user who wants to start Xorg).

I installed drm-kmod and add the following line to /boot/loader.conf:

hw.syscons.disable=1

after reboot the system freeze at startup...

I'm trying to access loader.conf with the insllation dvd

I could not start Xorg after installing drm-kmod

Run kldstat and check if amdgpu.ko and drm.ko modules are listed, if not check /etc/rc.conf if the kld_list line is correct. Should be set like:
Code:
kld_list=“amdgpu”
or
kld_list=“/boot/modules/amdgpu.ko”

If kldstat lists amdgpu.ko and drm.ko, try the radeonkms.ko module instead. Set in /etc/rc.conf
Code:
kld_list=“/boot/modules/radeonkms.ko”
Reboot the notebook.

When booting, or afterwards, check dmesg for [drm] messages, similar to the example below.
Code:
[drm] amdgpu kernel modesetting enabled.
…

Not related to the graphics adapter, on occation update FreeBSD 12.0-RELEASE to 12.0-RELEASE-p3:
freebsd-update fetch
freebsd-update install

amdgpu.ko and drm.ko modules are not listed when run kldstat.

Adding to /etc/rc.conf

Code:
kld_list=“amdgpu”

When booting, I have:

Code:
...
[drm:uvd_v4_2_start] UVD not responding, trying to reset the VCPU!!!
[drm:uvd_v4_2_start] UVD not responding, giving up!!!
[drm:amdgpu_device_ip_set_powergating_state] set_powergating_state of IP block <uvd_v4_2> failed -1
<6>[drm] amdgpu atom LVDS backlight unloaded

and nothing after that, system freeze

Try the radeon.ko module. Set in /etc/rc.conf :
Code:
kld_list=“/boot/modules/radeonkms.ko”
Don’t forget to unset, or delete the amdpgu module setting.

I confirm that Xorg works with this configuration:

/boot/loader.conf
Code:
hw.syscons.disable=1

and

/etc/rc.conf
Code:
kld_list="/boot/modules/amdgpu.ko"

thanks a lot for your help!
