Xfce Xfce4 Settings

I have been using Xfce4 close to 10 years now. I am suprised how difficult it can be finding some settings.

I really hate when multiple program instances are "grouped" on the taskbar with a single application pane with a number for the instances open.
I like old clunky style with individual panes for each application instance.

You have to highlight taskbar >> go to panel preferences >> items tab >> double click "Window Buttons" >> under Behavior >> Group Windows by Application

It really seems like the Xfce Settings are burrowed too deeply sometime.

What do you change on Xfce4 on a new install (settings not desktop visually)? Do you think the Settings menu items are a good setup?

I really think Win2K did a good job at settings. Now they are hidden away.

I'm starting to get used to them but, I think you're right and sometimes you have to do some digging to find things. I just posted the font issue I had a couple of days ago where the fonts on my session were a little wonky after logging in. It wasn't obvious what to change but I got a very helpful response.

I don't find it that bad to find settings, I feel they are logically sectioned. On FreeBSD I only change cosmetics to make it look my way, two panels, theme and icons. On Linux I need to change the alt key keybinding because it conflicts with a Reaper DAW time stretch function..

Good topic OP, I always like to hear others experiences

Logically sectioned I agree but the tabs keep things hidden.

Like Keyboard. I never would have thought about "Layout" for multimedia keys. Because its two tabs over I have never even looked. This tab setting should default to Layout not Behavior.

I have also noticed NVidia XServer Settings does not end up in the "Settings Manager" but shows in main Applications taskbar under Settings.
