Xfce (Setting->Background) bug has been introduced some time ago, for some reason, but now there's a fix in the source. I wonder when will the fix get incorporated into pkg upgrade in FreeBSD?

Probably the fix will be included in the new release of xfce or you can somehow use the patch and build xfce on your own. Last xfce release was released 11 months ago. I dont know if maintainers of xfce port have a chance to cherry pick some fixes like that into the port.
